In barba alla scaramanzia, la ISHOF Hall of Famer Marcy Mac Donald lo scorso 6 luglio ha completato la sua diciassettesima traversata del Canale della Manica, a 25 anni di distanza dal primo tentativo.
"Tutto bene, solo un po' di affaticamento muscolare e il fastidio delle punture di medusa" il commento di Mac Donald, tesserata con il club Laurel East Hartford YMCA, che quando non è impegnata in maratone open water lavora nel suo studio di pediatra a Manchester, CT. Tra le varie onorificenze, Mac Donald nel 2011 è stata nominata Atleta dell'anno dalla World Open Water Swimming Association.
