Nel corso dei Campionati Nazionali inglesi in vasca corta andata in scena nel fine settimana a Sheffield, il campione olimpico della 4x200 stile libero Matthew Richards (19) ha migliorato il primato britannico dei 100 stile libero in due occasioni, 45.94 nelle qualifiche del mattino e 45.85 (21.98/23.87) in finale nel pomeriggio, tale prestazione gli vale la quarta prestazione mondiale stagionale davanti all'azzurro Thomas Ceccon , oltre al crono dei 100 metri ha fatto registrare anche un ottimo 21,11 nello sprint.
