È arrivata la notizia della scomparsa di Metello Savino, protagonista della spedizione azzurra ai Giochi Olimpici di Los Angeles 1984 dove conquistò la finale con la staffetta 4x100 stile libero insieme a Marcello Guarducci, Marco Colombo e Fabrizio Rampazzo.
Nato il 13 maggio 1963, fu campione italiano della 4x200 stile libero e insignito della Medaglia di bronzo del CONI nel 1981.
