Il cinese Haiyang Qin (24) e l'australiana Kaylee Mckeown (22) hanno bissato il trionfo ottenuto nell'appena conclusa Coppa del Mondo con il riconoscimento World Aquatics di nuotatori dell'anno. La cerimonia di premiazione è stata svolta presso la sede del futuro quartier generale del World Aquatics a Budapest.
Haiyang Qin è il primo nuotatore ad aver vinto tre titoli di specialità nel medesimo mondiale (Fukuoka), nella stessa rassegna iridata ha realizzato il nuovo primato del mondo dei 200 rana. Kaylee Mckeown è la prima atleta a detenere tutti i primi del mondo di una specialità ed anche lei la prima ad aver realizzato la tripletta nel corso di un mondiale. In CdM Kaylee McKeown ha conquistato 10 vittorie e realizzato due primati del mondo e Haiyang Qin ha vinto 9 ori.
