La dodici volte medaglia olimpica, Natalie Coughlin, tornerà alle competizioni in occasione della tappa di Indiapolis della ISL in programma il prossimo 5 e 6 ottobre, la fuoriclasse americana ha lasciato le gare nel 2016 è ci tornerà dunque nel 2019 grazie alla proposta della general manager del team DC Trident, Kaitlin Sandeno, che l'ha nominata anche co-capitana della squadra con il ranista Cody Miller.
“Ho nuotato circa 2 o 3 chilometri a seduta, il lavoro svolto è stato specifico sul dorso e poco altro, mi alleno da sola nel novantanove percento degli allenamenti, nuoto accanto al nuoto libero e ai corsi di fitness. È emozionante essere capitana ... Sono contenta che mi riconoscano come leader, è un onore. "
