In tutti gli edifici olimpici, compreso il Japan Sport Olympic Square, cuore amministrativo dello sport nipponico e dell'organizzazione dei Giochi di Tokyo, sarà vietato fumare.
Dal 1° aprile saranno chiuse tutte le aree fumatori all'interno degli edifici. Lo ha annunciato il Comitato organizzatore lo scorso 25 dicembre, con l'obiettivo di "prevenire i danni da fumo passivo e creare un ambiente salubre di lavoro, migliorando allo stesso tempo l'immagine delle istituzioni sportive".
