Kirsty Coventry è stata confermata Ministra dello Sport, dell'Arte e della Cultura dello Zimbabwe dal ri-confermato Presidente Emmerson Mnangagwa . L'ex nuotatrice Coventry, cinque partecipazioni olimpiche alle spalle con due ori, quattro argenti e un bronzo , è stata nominata per un secondo mandato quinquennale.
La sua ri-conferma al Governo è stata accolta favorevolmente dal Comitato Olimpico nazionale (ZOC).
Il CEO del ZOC, Marlene Chiedza Gadzirayi :
" Siamo lieti di continuare la nostra collaborazione con l'Onorevole Ministra e il suo team per promuovere il Movimento Olimpico, favorire l'eccellenza sportiva e promuovere i valori di unità, amicizia e fair play delle Olimpiadi. La riorganizzazione del Ministero darà allo sport il riconoscimento che merita come un'industria redditizia. "
