Il Presidente del CIO, Thomas Bach, insieme al presidente della Commissione degli atleti del CIO, la norvegese Emma Terho, e al delegato CIO in Cina Li Lingwei , si sono messi in in contatto tramite una videochiamata di 30 minuti con la tennista Peng Shuai che ha ringraziato il CIO per l'attenzione nei suoi confronti e per il suo suo benessere, la cinese ha spiegato che è al sicuro, che sta bene e che vive nella sua casa a Pechino, ma vorrebbe che la sua privacy fosse rispettata. “ Sono stata sollevata nel vedere che Peng Shuai stava bene, che era la nostra principale preoccupazione. Sembrava rilassata. Le ho offerto il nostro supporto e di rimanere in contatto, cosa che ovviamente ha apprezzato ", ha detto Emma Terho.
