Al Southern Zone Sectional Championships in Florida, Katie Ledecky ha gareggiato per la prima volta nei 1500 metri stile libero dopo l’oro olimpico di Parigi, chiudendo in 15:36.87. Questo tempo rappresenta il sedicesimo miglior crono di ogni epoca, con la particolarità che anche tutti gli altri quindici tempi più veloci della storia della specialità appartengono alla stessa Ledecky. Nei giorni precedenti, la fuoriclasse statunitense aveva già vinto i 400 stile libero con un tempo di 4:01.04.
