Per essere idoneo alla nomina un nuotatore si deve essere ritirato dalle competizioni da almeno 5 anni ed aver vinto almeno una medaglia d'oro olimpica o paralimpica individuale, oppure più campionati mondiali o medaglie d'oro ai Giochi del Commonwealth, invece per gli allenatori la nomina può avvenire in qualsiasi momento, anche loro per essere nominabili per la Hall of Fame devono essere in possesso dei risultati internazionali richiesti agli atleti.
