Il 26enne Adam Peaty è stato nominato " Sportsman of the Year " dalla Sports Journalists' Association (SJA) della Gran Bretagna, fra le principali motivazioni alla base del premio ci sono l'essere stato il primo nuotatore britannico a confermare il titolo olimpico nella medesima specialità e l'essere diventato una icona dello sport anche fuori dalla vasca espondendosi in più occasioni in prima persona a difesa gli interessi degli atleti.
