Le ultime due stagioni agonistiche hanno visto il nuotatore londinese diventare due volte campione olimpico ai Giochi di Tokyo; nei 200 stile libero e 4x200 stile libero e tre volte campione del mondo a Budapest lo scorso anno nei 200 stile libero, 4x200 stile libero e con la 4x200 mista.
